Runners are friends even they don’t know each other. Imagine what happens and they are already friends and and they meet over and over! They want to create a special marathon. For this reason and many others you are invited to: Pleven Marathon in Bulgaria (Plevna as we call it in Romania).

Save in your calendar 28 September 2014. It is called Pleven Friendship
Marathon
and is design to commemorate the sacrifice of thousands of
Romanian, Russian and Bulgarian soldiers died in the summer of 1877
in the region of Pleven and Griviza in the battles for the
independence of Bulgaria.

Ro Club Marathon is partnering organizer along with Begach Running Club. Director of the event is the  friend of Romanian marathon runners, Stanislav Georgiev (Stan).

This marathon can be considered a part of the net of some 10
historical marathons and ultra marathons held in Romania. The route
of the marathon passes through the main historical places in the
region, including the Museum of Romanian soldiers in Griviza. Our
friend and world famous flag-man runner Ilie Rosu is the Romanian
ambassador of the event.

Location is convenient, Pleven is just 230km away from Bucharest and
it takes 3 hours to reach it. We ensured 15% discount for Ro Club
Marathon members upon registration. We can organize transportation
and lodging for those who would like to use this option, upon
minimum 30 people demand.

a) Date: 28 September 2014 (last Sunday of the month)
b) Starting time for marathon, half marathon and relay: 9:00am.
c) Starting time for challenge-myself cross: 9:15am.

a) Classical marathon distance: 42,2km
b) Half marathon: 21,1km
c) Relay of 21.1km in total including 2 team members running
10,55km each. No. of teams limit: 50. Types of teams: male, female,
mixed.
d) Challenge-myself cross: 3km

a) ground: asphalt
b) elevation: flat, partially hilly with total vertical climb of
260m
c) route: a good variety of city, park and road environment:
starting and finishing in the city center the route passes through
the most interesting spots in and around the city, such as Kaylaka
park, Grivitza Romanian soldiers’ monument and Yassen village
Osman Pasha sword surrender historical bridge.

5) Cut-off time:
a) 6h for marathon
b) 3h for half-marathon and relay

9) Pre-race calendar:
a) Close of electronic registration: 24 September
b) On-site registration: 27 September 2:00pm
c) Kits pick-up (against valid ID): 27 September from 10:00am
until 5:00pm at the city center Pleven Friendship Marathon
registration stand

10) Medical certificate: Participant in the marathon and
semi-marathon distance need to sign a declaration for her/his
medical status allowing her/him to run the race. By signing up for
to the event, participants accept the conditions for participation.
